7 Reasons to Outsource Your Marketing

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Businesses are doing more with less nowadays. The question is how can companies reduce cost, improve efficiency and increase performance? Outsourcing your marketing is a way to accomplish that rare trifecta.

Outsourcing is a contentious topic in America today. Simply mention the word and people get uneasy. That stigma is well earned due to the impact it has had on manufacturing job loss to countries overseas.

When it comes to achieving your marketing objectives, partnering with an experienced outside firm can add value to your company’s marketing efforts and increase your return on investment. Think of an outside firm as your “marketing back office” with a team of experts in marketing strategy and execution.

Here are 7 reasons to consider outsourcing your marketing:

  1. Experience - A good marketing firm will have executed campaigns involving branding, advertising, Web sites, videos, social media, Flash applications and podcasts. Your internal marketing department may have done one or two of those things but odds are you don’t have that full gamut of skills.
  2. Focus - You have other demands on your day. Marketing professionals eat, live and sleep marketing. Outsourcing some of your marketing initiatives can improve quality and free company resources for other comparatively profitable activities.
  3. Improved Turnaround - Get projects done faster with team of Web developers, video producers and designers.
  4. Expert Insight - Marketing firms stay up to speed on the latest technologies, communication techniques and best practices to find the “next big thing” to market your business.
  5. Perspective - Benefit from what other clients are doing in the area of marketing.
  6. Save Money - Reduce your overall marketing costs with a team of industry professionals like social media strategists, web programmers, video producers and graphic designers.
  7. Scalability - Ramp up when you need your marketing firm. Scale back when you don’t.

Talk to your internal marketing team, company CFO and peers to explore the feasibility of marketing outsourcing. Once you select the right partner, you’ll be amazed how you ever got along without them.

Kids Ride Free – Ferry Marketing Got to Me

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Summer 2009: It had been 2 years since I took the Lake Express High Speed Car Ferry across to Milwaukee. The waves were huge and the passengers sick. I was miserable and said that I would never do it again…

And then I caught wind of this promotion:

The fastest ship on Lake Michigan also offers low fares for families

This caught my attention. I have to admit that after the 2 year hiatus from the ferry, the memory fades. I did actually look into taking a trip over to Milwaukee for my family of five. I did the math and it was too expensive. It was a no go until I heard about the Kids Ride Free promotion.

On July 3, we took the Ferry over to Milwaukee once again and it was smooth sailing. I did check the wave report before I booked and it looked good. The employees at the Muskegon facility were great. They even let us on first because we had young children. The kids had a blast on the upper deck. Jason and I had fun watching them. A quick 2.5 hours later we were in Wisconsin.

The ride back on the 4th was even better. The folks over at the Milwaukee dock were just as pleasant. We took the 7:00 pm ferry and entered the Muskegon Channel during the fireworks displays taking place in North Muskegon, Summer Celebration and the Muskegon Country Club. There was no better view then from the deck of the Lake Express Ferry that night.

I would travel on the Lake Express Ferry in a heartbeat. I would recommend a ride for anyone, especially on a nice, calm, wave free day!

Get It Together

Something we preach at Qonverge is the “delivery of a consistent message across a variety of media”. So what does that really mean? Our first step with any project is to determine the marketing message the client is trying to communicate to their customers. E-commerce

Next, we develop a strategy to deliver that message. Everything we do with technology revolves around the client’s marketing needs.

When we work on a client project, it often involves a mix of traditional media (advertisements, brochures, printed literature) and emerging media (Web sites, podcasts, online video).

The key is consistency of the message across all the media used in a campaign.

Repurposing content to market a business is the most cost-effective way to deliver a message. Adding a video that can be viewed over and over again from a Web site is more aff ordable than a 30 second television ad that might be seen once or twice. A podcast that can be downloaded anytime, any day is less expensive than a series of radio spots.

Do you find yourself asking the following questions when it comes to marketing your business?

  • How do I get more people to my Web site?
  • How can we effectively communicate to our customers?
  • Why doesn’t my brochure and Web site look the same?

Contact us to get your marketing message together and speak to your audience using a common voice.
