“I hate being on camera.”
Over the last 10 years of producing video can you imagine how many times I have heard that? The truth is – I do not like to be in front of the camera very much either. Not to say I would avoid an opportunity to have my thoughts broadcast, but certainly you won’t find me waving at my Mom behind a reporter during a live broadcast.
Everyone has something important to say, but not everyone has the charisma, presentation skills, or time to do it on camera.
So, what’s the solution? Get some talent! Hire an actor.
I recently produced a video that covered issues that concerned people who were very sick or dying. They submitted wonderful written testimonials to the client that were so powerful they HAD to be used. The problem was they lived all over the country and many were not in a condition that they would want shown on camera.
We hired two actors to represent their testimony on camera. What a success! The actors were believable, true to the testimony, and the budget was more manageable than sending a crew all over the country.
Using talent is an option that is often overlooked in smaller or corporate productions. It’s an affordable and effective way to enhance your communication.
Another good use of using professional on camera talent is to have your message presented to the target audience by someone they can relate to. Age, gender, and race can play a part in how your message is received — it just depends on who you are talking to.
The next time you are asked to get in front of a camera and you feel your stomach start to knot, call Qonverge. We would be happy to help you, “Get Some Talent.”
